Want to jump from intensified to smart processes, thanks to Industry 5.0 ? Intens4Chem is a solution : Meet Julien ESTAGER from Certech to know all about it

The 8th edition of the International Conferences on Green Chemistry and White Biotechnologies , will eventually take place on 28 & 29 september 2022. It will be dedicated to “Digital Transformation: Innovation booster for Green Chemistry and White Biotechs”. They will be held at the Sart-Tilman University Campus, under the auspices of ULiège.

Chemistry and Life Science is at the core of the Belgian economy with a turnover of € 74 billion, coming from more than 720 companies. In Wallonia alone, it represents more than 95.000 persons working in a related field. This unique position in Europe requires countless and constant evolution to tackle an ever-growing competition, especially coming from countries where manpower and energy is cheaper. As a research institute which mission is to provide innovative solutions to support chemical companies, Certech is a part this transformation and has developed a large expertise in process intensification to answer to the new needs of its industrial partners. This presentation shares our vision regarding this evolution starting from our present intensified processes to the future technologies we want to develop where chemistry, engineering and IT solution are intertwined.

Julien ESTAGER is a Project Manager at Certech (Belgium). He graduated with a MSc. Eng. from CPE Lyon (France) and obtained a Ph.D. from the Université de Savoie (France) in 2007. He then worked for the QUILL Research Center in Belfast (U.K.) with Prof. K.R. SEDDON on the valorisation of ionic liquids for industrial applications in gas purification and infragrances formulation. He joined Certech in 2012 to provide R&D support to various companies in the field of synthetic chemistry and process intensification. Recently, he worked on the development of a flow chemistry platform to provide innovative solutions regarding product and process development to the different industrial partners of Certech.

About the Conferences…

The purpose of the conferences is to screen the digital technology used to boost activities in the fields of green chemistry and white biotechnology around the world, to share knowledge and encourage the creation of new R&D projects in the sector at regional and international scale.

The first day, on 28 September, will focus on Digital Transition while the second one, on 29 September, will focus on Artificial Intelligence. Both days will be animated by Tieneke Van Hooland, from Bio.be by essenscia.
