BISRAM

Bio Sourced Remediation and Agro Materials

GreenWin presents BISRAM :

According to SPAQuE, there are 10,000 hectares of industrial wasteland spread over 5,000 sites in the Walloon Region. On a European scale, this figure rises to 1,400,000 sites according to ADEME. As these brownfield sites contribute to environmental degradation, there is an urgent need to involve them in a conversion process.

Through this action, which is part of the VERDIR dynamic, we want to :

- enhance the value of brownfield sites by combining an innovative in situ remediation process with the use of appropriate plant species;
- make use of the plant biomass produced in the field of agro-materials for construction, biomass energy or other sectors yet to be identified.

This innovative, multidisciplinary project will mobilise the resources of 2 Belgian companies (Biorem Engineering and Prefer) and 3 university units (Liège, Gembloux and Louvain).

Ultimately, it should lead to the creation of 32 direct jobs and 46 indirect jobs within the 2 Liège companies promoting the project and related companies.

Project supported by the following consortium:

  • Project sponsor: Biorem
  • The company: Biorem Engineering; PREFER
  • Universities and Higher Education Institutions ULg - GeMMe / GxABT (USSE); UCL -LTAP
