After three years of collaboration within the Construction Working Group of the EDIH-CONNECT project, a public report has been published to present the activities carried out, the results achieved, and the key lessons learned from this collective experience.
Established as a platform for exchange among European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) active in the construction sector, the Working Group gradually evolved into a genuine community of practice dedicated to accelerating the digital transformation of the construction industry across Europe.
Over the course of these three years, members shared methodologies, compared their approaches to supporting SMEs, exchanged experiences on the implementation of Digital Maturity Assessments (DMAs), identified solutions to common challenges, and leveraged the diversity of national and regional innovation ecosystems. These exchanges also led to several collaborative initiatives at the European level.
Among the Working Group’s key achievements:
> Joint development of a Digital Maturity Assessment approach tailored to the construction sector and aligned with the European Union’s DMA framework;
> Strengthening links with major European initiatives and networks, including Built4People and the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP);
> Organisation of a European event bringing together EDIHs, clusters and innovation stakeholders;
> Facilitation of consortium building for future European funding opportunities through dedicated co-creation workshops;
> Preparation of joint international activities, notably within the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress;
> Establishment of mechanisms aimed at ensuring the continuity and long-term sustainability of the network beyond the initial EDIH funding period.
The report highlights the added value of European collaboration for SMEs in the construction sector and for innovation ecosystems, while underlining the role of EDIHs in fostering a stronger and more connected European innovation ecosystem.
We would like to thank all the EDIHs and partners who contributed to the work of this Working Group over the past three years. Their commitment, openness and willingness to collaborate have made it possible to turn ideas into concrete actions.
